Just a few years later, he made television history as James Evans Sr. in Good Times, the first TV show to portray an African American, two-parent household. Amos also left a powerful mark with his Emmy-nominated role as the adult Kunta Kinte in the groundbreaking 1977 miniseries Roots, a performance that continues to resonate with audiences today.
