The teaser for Neela Nira Sooriyan, written, directed, and led by Samyuktha Vijayan, was unveiled on Sunday, offering a poignant glimpse into the emotional journey of a transwoman grappling with her identity. The film, also known as Blue Sunshine, is produced by Mala Manyan under the First Copy Productions banner.
The teaser introduces Samyuktha’s character, who was assigned male at birth but struggles to embrace her true self in a world clouded by prejudice and homophobia. The storyline captures her internal conflict throughout her school years, as she fights to find acceptance and live authentically as a transgender woman.
With music, editing, and cinematography handled by Steev Benjamin, Neela Nira Sooriyan promises to deliver a visually and emotionally powerful narrative. Samyuktha Vijayan and Mala Manyan have co-produced the film, which has already made waves by being selected for prestigious platforms like the International Film Festival of India (2023) and the Glasgow Film Festival (2024).
