Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty is officially onboard for the highly anticipated period drama starring Prabhas, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. This announcement came from the film’s producers, Mythri Movie Makers, who shared the exciting news on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday. The production house took a moment to congratulate Mithun Chakraborty on receiving the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award, Indian cinema’s highest honor, stating, “You thoroughly deserve it for your rich contribution to Indian Cinema. We, team Prabhas-Hanu, are honoured and delighted to have you on board for our magnum opus.”

Titled Fauji, the film is set in pre-independence India and is described as a period-based action love story. According to reports, Prabhas will portray a soldier, and the concept poster hints at his character being a part of Subhash Chandra Bose’s Azad Hind Fauj, which has already fueled excitement among fans.

The movie had its formal launch on August 17 with a traditional pooja ceremony, marking the beginning of the ambitious project. Vishal Chandrasekhar has been roped in to compose the film’s music and background score. Director Hanu Raghavapudi, whose previous film Sita Ramam received critical acclaim, is once again set to deliver a visually grand and emotionally engaging narrative.

With a stellar cast and a gripping storyline set against the backdrop of India’s freedom struggle, Fauji promises to be an epic cinematic experience for audiences.
