The much-loved anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is officially returning for a second season, as announced by Japanese animation studio Madhouse during a special anniversary event. Following the immense success of the first season, which aired from September last year to March this year, the anticipation for the next installment is at an all-time high.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End quickly rose to the top of the MyAnimeList rankings, becoming one of the highest-rated anime shows in recent years. The first season ended with the tantalizing words, “The Journey to Ende Continues,” leaving fans eager to see where the story goes next.
The talented team behind season one is back, with screenwriter Tomohiro Suzuki and director Keiichiro Saito returning to lead production for season two, which is already underway. Based on the popular manga by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, the series follows Frieren, an immortal elven mage, as she embarks on a new journey after the defeat of the Demon King. The show poignantly explores the passage of time and Frieren’s reflections on her mortal companions.
