Fans of sci-fi and graphic novels are in for a treat as Netflix has just dropped the first look at The Electric State, the highly anticipated film from the Russo Brothers. Based on Simon Stalenhag’s graphic novel, the film wrapped production back in February of last year, and today, we finally got a glimpse of what’s to come.
In the images, Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt take center stage. Brown plays Michelle, a determined young woman searching for her missing sibling in a post-apocalyptic world. Chris Pratt takes on the role of an army veteran-turned-truck driver, who helps Michelle on her journey. Adding to the star-studded cast, Anthony Mackie lends his voice to Herman, a unique construction machine capable of transforming in size.
Set in 1994, The Electric State paints a haunting picture of a world struggling to rebuild after a devastating war between humans and AI. With robots forced into exile in desert wastelands, society grapples with the aftermath of destruction. The film boasts an impressive supporting cast, including Everything Everywhere All at Once star Ke Huy Quan as Dr. Amherst, Giancarlo Esposito as Colonel Marshall Bradbury, and Stanley Tucci as Ethan Skate.
The Russo Brothers, known for their blockbuster hits like Avengers: Endgame, last directed The Gray Man in 2022, starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans. Their future projects include the much-talked-about Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, which will bring Robert Downey Jr. back to the Marvel universe in a surprising new role as Doctor Doom.
With its intriguing premise, stunning visuals, and stellar cast, The Electric State is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases on Netflix. Fans of science fiction and the Russo Brothers’ work will undoubtedly be excited to see how this futuristic tale unfolds.
