The most-awaited movie  starring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles, hit the screens today. Directed by Siva Koratala, this high-budget entertainer has generated a lot of positive buzz. Dive into our review to find out how the film measures up.

Devara: Part 1 takes viewers on an exciting journey through the coastal village of Ratnagiri, situated near the Red Sea. The film revolves around Devara (Jr NTR), Bhaira (Saif Ali Khan), and Rayappa (Srikanth), the influential leaders of their respective villages. These powerful figures assist Muruga (Murali Sharma), a dominant smuggler, in moving illegal goods from ships.

However, Devara begins to question these activities, realizing that smuggling is morally wrong. This leads to a fallout between Devara and Bhaira, who refuses to give up the illicit trade. Bhaira, driven by vengeance, hatches a plan to kill Devara. In a surprising twist, Devara disappears, leaving Bhaira to rule Ratnagiri for the next twelve years, all while searching for his old rival to exact his revenge.

Enter Vara, Devara’s innocent and helpless son, who, shockingly, joins forces with Bhaira. The movie builds tension around why Vara aligns with Bhaira and whether he holds any grudges against his father. The central question remains—what really happened to Devara? Is he still alive? Why is Bhaira so determined to kill him? These mysteries drive the film’s engaging plot, keeping viewers on edge.

Highlights of the Movie:

Jr NTR once again proves why he is one of the most bankable stars in the industry, delivering a fantastic performance in two distinct roles—Devara and Vara. As Devara, he is humble yet powerful, while as Vara, he portrays innocence and vulnerability. The dual performance keeps audiences captivated throughout.

Saif Ali Khan makes a strong debut in Tollywood as Bhaira, a character fueled by revenge against Devara. His portrayal is intense and adds gravitas to the movie. Janhvi Kapoor, though her role is limited, brings charm to the film, especially in her scenes with the young Jr NTR, which are fun and light-hearted.

The action sequences in Devara: Part 1 are incredibly well-executed and bound to thrill audiences. The choreography of the fight scenes, paired with strong dialogue delivery, adds to the intensity of the film. Supporting cast members, including Srikanth and Prakash Raj, deliver solid performances, adding to the film’s overall appeal.

Room for Improvement:

While the film is highly entertaining, it does fall into predictability at times. Director Koratala Siva does a commendable job, but the second half of the movie could have been more engaging. Some scenes feel rushed or underdeveloped, particularly those involving Janhvi Kapoor and Prakash Raj. Fans of Janhvi may be left wanting more, as her role is relatively small.

Saif Ali Khan’s character Bhaira also feels somewhat underutilized, especially in the second half, and the abrupt climax might leave audiences wanting more resolution.

Technical Brilliance:

On the technical side, the movie shines. Ratnavelu’s cinematography captures the grandeur of the setting, while Anirudh Ravichander’s music heightens the emotional and action-packed moments of the film. The editing by Sreekar Prasad is decent but could have been tightened in some of the slower scenes. The action choreography stands out, and the production values are top-notch, giving the film a polished, cinematic feel.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, Devara: Part 1 is an action-packed drama that delivers on its promise of entertainment. Jr NTR steals the show with his versatile performance, while Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor provide solid support. Despite a few predictable plot points and some missed opportunities in the second half, the movie is worth watching for its engaging action, strong performances, and the mysteries that will surely keep you guessing.

If you’re looking for a thrilling watch this weekend, Devara: Part 1 should be on your list.
