In a stunning display of grandeur, Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna have shot for a spectacular song in their upcoming historical drama Chhaava. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film is set against the backdrop of the 17th century and focuses on the lives of Chatrapati Sambhaji and his wife Yesubai.

The makers have created an elaborate set that replicates the Raigad Fort in Mumbai, where the pivotal coronation ceremony song was filmed. This scene, which plays a crucial role in the film’s narrative, showcases the vibrant atmosphere surrounding Sambhaji’s coronation.

Music maestro A.R. Rahman has composed a special track for this occasion, incorporating traditional Marathi folk influences. The composition features instruments such as the dholaki and tuntune, reflecting the musical styles of that era. The lyrics draw inspiration from Powada, a famous Marathi poem format traditionally used to celebrate kings.

According to sources, choreographer Vijay Ganguly, known for his work on Stree 2, led a massive production involving over 700 background dancers. The scene captures the essence of a grand celebration as Vicky’s character participates in traditional rituals, with Rashmika joining him in the festivities. This song is the film’s only dance number, with other musical elements woven into the background throughout the narrative.

The production team meticulously researched the coronation, discovering an article from a London newspaper that vividly described the ceremony as a lively event. This insight helped the director recreate an authentic and vibrant celebration. In the song, Vicky’s Sambhaji performs the yagna and thread ceremony, while Yesubai takes part in the Rajabhishek and aarti. As the kingdom rejoices, Sambhaji is finally seen ascending to the throne.

Chhaava, also featuring Akshaye Khanna as Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, is inspired by the novel of the same name by Shivaji Sawant. The film is set to release on December 6, and audiences can expect a captivating blend of history, music, and drama. Stay tuned for more updates on this epic cinematic journey!
